How It Works
Root Cause Direct Care operates under a Direct Primary Care (DPC) model. Instead of billing insurance, patients pay a flat monthly membership fee that covers most primary care needs.
Your membership includes unlimited visits and ongoing access to your provider. For members in Running Springs and the surrounding areas, we also offer house call visits by appointment. Because we don’t answer to insurance companies, every decision is based solely on what’s best for you.

Tristan Crawford is a board-certified Physician Associate with a background in Emergency Medicine and Pain Management. He earned his degree in Physician Assistant Studies from Pennsylvania College of Technology and his Master of Medical Science from Saint Francis University.
Tristan’s approach to medicine is grounded in the belief that no two patients are the same—and that truly effective care begins with time, trust, and understanding. He is committed to treating each patient as an individual, taking the time to listen, educate, and develop thoughtful, evidence-based care plans tailored to each person’s unique needs.
Whether caring for patients in the clinic, through house calls, or via telemedicine, Tristan brings a calm, compassionate, and human-centered approach to every encounter. He believes healthcare works best when patients feel heard, respected, and supported—just as he would care for a member of his own family.
Outside of medicine, Tristan enjoys staying active and creative. You may find him on the slopes in Big Bear, surfing along the coast, or spending time in the studio making music.
